DOG TRAINING WORKSHOPS

Every dog owner wants to bond with their dog more. We can help.

We offer a variety of workshops aimed at helping you and your dog bond and live together happily. At Walkies with Una, we believe in putting your dog's needs first. By educating you in the different ways you can interact with your dog and meet their needs, we can help you strengthen your bond with them.

Our workshops are held at Aldersbrook Riding School, an indoor area with lots of space and a great surface for movement. All our workshops run from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

Pricing

Workshops cost £60 per place for one dog and one handler.

Learn how to loose lead walk, how to use Scentwork to enrich your dog’s life, how to prepare for fireworks or bring your kids along to learn tricks they can do with your dog and so much more.

MARCH 21ST – GROOMING - LIMITED SPACES

With a special guest groomer, Lizi Arnold from Lizi's pawsitive K9's

Lizi is a holistic dog groomer with qualifications in behaviour. She is all about teaching you how to teach your dog that grooming is good. It’s not something to hate. This is suited to dogs who are new to grooming, getting dogs started on the right foot. This workshop is also great if you want to learn how to keep your dog’s coat in great condition meaning nicer trips to the groomers.

APRIL 18TH - SCENTWORK  - FULLY BOOKED

Great for dogs of all ages

Scentwork is an amazing way to entertain dogs of all ages – from puppies to older dogs. Scentwork can enrich their lives through mental activity without putting strain on their bodies. This workshop covers teaching basic games all the way to finding a target scent!

MAY 16TH - GOLDEN OLDIES

We couldn't leave out the golden oldies

This workshop is perfect for those who are past all that jumping around malarkey. We will discuss the little changes we can make to our dogs’ lives to help them in their golden years. How we can help them in staying mobile whilst not doing damage to their aging bodies. How to keep their minds healthy and showing you what you can do with your dog to enjoy their golden years.

JUNE 20TH - INTERACTIVE PLAY

A Walkies with Una favourite

Get ready to ditch the ball and instead learn how different toys can be used for different things. Come and find the best toy for your reward issues. How to ensure your dog loves their walks with YOU, not the park!

JULY 18TH - LIFE SKILLS & PREPARE FOR FIREWORKS

A bit of everything

This workshop covers life skills, handling and vet visits. How to get the best from your vet. How to choose a dog walker, groomer, boarding services. The do's and don'ts we wish we all knew way back when.

We will cover:

  • Emergency stops

  • Useful dog positions such as a play dead-lay on your side

  • A stand, great for groomers and vet visits

  • Waiting at doors instead of rushing them

  • Ideas for activities instead of chucking a ball in the park

We will also discuss getting ready for the time of year many dogs find challenging. With different activity areas, focusing on how to keep your dog busy during this time. How to desensitise, what you can do to make it easier. Different options when it comes to supplements or aromatherapy sprays.

AUGUST 15TH - CHILD HANDLER

A special class for the children

This is a fun workshop all about tricks and games. How to make your pooch your best buddy in the whole wide world! How to get them to listen to everything you say first time, every time! If they are already your best buddy, come and join us for a couple of hours of fun and games. Children aged 6-15. Adults must be present with children.

SEPTEMBER 19TH - PREPARE FOR FIREWORKS

Get your dog ready for the season many dogs find hard

We will be focusing on desensitisation and how to do it well. Things you can do to help your dog relax.

We will cover:

  • Relaxing oils and how to use them

  • Different calming options for dogs

  • Things you can do instead of walking your dog in the evenings during firework season

OCTOBER 17TH - RAPID RECALL

Does your dog find coming back boring?

Well, we have the solution to this!  In our rapid recall workshop, you will learn how to be the most exciting thing on the walk. How to keep your dog’s attention and how to make them want to come back when you call. Places are limited.

DECEMBER 19TH - LOOSE LEAD

A nice, pleasant walk with your dog

Does your dog walk down the street like they are in a real hurry? Are you being pulled all over the show or just escorting your dog on their walk? Loose lead walking is something that many people struggle with. In this in-depth workshop you will learn how to have a peaceful and enjoyable walk.

No shoulders being pulled out.

No resorting to a head collar or bungee leads.
